Echo One is the only game currently in production by Sequoia Games. The project was initially conceived as a 3D top-down shooter for PC in late 2007, but after details were worked out, it was decided that the 2D platform would better suit the game play elements and performance the team was after. After some delay, the game was officially started in January of 2010 with possible plans to port to C# and XNA for XBOX 360. The game is currently in its early stages and is still a work in progress.

The game's universe is not much different from our own. It is science fiction, but attempts were made to make it the most accurate representation of our future as possible. The plot itself is something that could very well happen in the near future, and as such, we take great pride in this particular game. Story line aside though, Echo One is sure to bring in an audience. It is the first 2D game we have worked on, but our level of skill acquired via past products and applications aids in the development process drastically.

The game's basic elements consist of the traditional top-down shooter genre mixed with both fast-paced action and slower more calculated movements on the player’s part. The objective of the game, as well as the way it is played changes over time as more weapons and enemies are introduced later on. Normally, the player can move around the game world with the WASD keys, and aim the cannon with the mouse pointer, using the right click to fire(left click too if secondary fire is applicable to the weapon). As the player aims the weapon, a small shield attached to the rear of the weapon rotates with it, always staying directly behind the weapon. To deflect oncoming shots, the player must rotate the weapon facing away from the shot, allowing the shield to come in-between the shot's trajectory and the vehicle, like illustrated below:

After the player is familiar with this game play style, a new "Deployed" mode is introduced, allowing the player to deploy his vehicle. When a vehicle is deployed, the player sacrifices movement for a more powerful heavy weapon, as well as direct control of the vehicles defense shield. When in deployed mode, the player cannot move, but the A and D keys are used to independently rotate the shield free of the weapon's rotation, so that the player can defend and attack at the same time.
